The story behind the photo
How I captured two moles 'wrestling' on camera...
Back in July 2024, I was out with my new camera walking along a track when I noticed some movement in the grass on the verge. I wasn’t sure what it was; perhaps a mouse, maybe a rat? I followed it with my camera - finger on the shutter button. Waiting to see what it was, a mole emerged before joining the track. Clicking away, I realised there were actually two moles - both moving with great speed. I desperately struggled to get them both in frame and in focus. But I did - and just before both moles then went back into the grass and disappeared.

When I reviewed the photos, I was amazed by what I had just seen and captured. To see a mole alone is rare, seeing two together is even rarer but to see them seemingly 'Wrestling' right in front of you - that’s certainly not something I see everyday! The photo is not only unique but is testament to the incredible surprises and beauty nature brings.
